Court Action - Vehicle Repair

I own a business that specialises in sector of the motor trade, we have a great rep & provenance which means most business just appears, generally we deal with mostly trade enquiries.
We took on a job last year for a customer which has turned out to be quite a large bill. Customer has been elusive since we called him to tell him the vehicle is ready.
Turns out the vehicle is under finance with a large corporation so we contacted them, told them the scenario & sent them the bill.
We've now had a solicitor on threatening us with court action if we dont release the vehicle back to them & threatening to pursue us for costs.
Turns out the customer hasnt been paying his agreement either.
We've had this scenario in the past & the finance house either advised us to dispose of the vehicle or they paid the bill & pursued there client. This is the first time we've been threatened legal action or my terms have been bullied into submission by the big corporation.
I've tried to contact my own solicitor & i'm awaiting a call back but any advise would be fantastic
The value of the repair is more than a third of the vehicles value
