I have a couple of online shops, one of them being a relatively niche one in the kitchen and bathroom industry.

Looking at ways to increase sales and I was wondering how easy it is to get affiliates to sell your own products? I know it's easy to become an affiliate seller but not so sure on being the vendor.

Does anyone have a site that gains traffic and sales via this method?

Does it work for smaller niche sites or do you need to be pretty big to attract the sellers?

Affiliate bloggers and marketeers are looking for a good £ to effort return, as such you may not have enough sexy stuff to attract them on pure commission and possibly a retainer may be necessary - please google "how to get affiliates to promote your products" and do a bit of reading.

Assuming social media would help (?) find a savvy family member and get them blogging, fbooking and tweeting - you may be surprised or you may be disappointed but it's worth a try.

Thanks, had a bit of a read up and it makes sense. I've been thinking about it and I wonder if my products are a bit too much of a considered purchase for affiliate marketing, as it needs to be sold to people when they need it (i.e when refitting kitchen) so may be a bit harder for an affiliate to convert.

We've starting getting quite active on Facebook but mostly posting product links, will look into getting more active on the blog and bring that into the social media instead and see how it goes. Thanks.

One approach would be to maybe have a kitchen stuff advice service on FB (not sure what you do) - you could answer any related queries in exchange for a "share" stuff like that. I am working with one chap to have a "double glazing" site where he answers and helps with DG queries and issues.
Try everything why not ?

For physical products you need somewhere like Affiliate Window, who deal with Argos etc.

For digital products it is a lot easier, Clickbank / Jvzoo / ComissionJunction being the basic start point.
