I am trying to find out about phone systems that you could ring up with an 0800 number so the call is free for the caller and then by entering a code/client reference is forwarded onto the client.
I know this must be possible but I just keep finding information on individual call forwarding for VOIP but I am after something that allows multiple users at once and one caller being able to call a different clients.
What is such a system called?
Does anyone know a company that does this?
Any ideas on costs?
Thank you

If your talking to a company use the term "auto attendant" they will know what it is you want.

Thank you but I am not sure that is quite what I need although there will be some sort of auto attendant.

Let me give an example. I am running a sex line that the employee rings into as they work from home. She then has appointments with customers and so dials their client reference number, so she never knows their number, and it then rings the client and they talk to the sexy lady/man.

That is what I want but without the sex and the number rung by the employee is an 0800 number.

Do you want a different 0800 for each employee or do they need to share the same number ?

I'd get a geographic number too if you're expecting calls from mobiles.

Hi Marshalla,
They would all ring the same 0800 number.

I use a system that everyone dials an 0800 number and each employee has 2 pin numbers. 1 moderator 1 client. The conference can only start with the moderator online and ends when the moderator leaves. You give the client pin to 1 or more parties as you wish and the facility is always available.

Not sure if this is relevant but I got a 'heads up' on another forum about a local (geographic) number that calls other local numbers and hangs up - caller rings back and is charged £1.50/minute. I thought local numbers weren't allowed to be premium rate numbers to prevent scams like this happening.

Take a step backwards.
Forget the technology for a moment and describe what you are trying to achieve here.
What the important point, that the two parties remain anonymous to each other?
That the client receives a call?
How is the relationship created/managed?

There will be the clients who should have their number kept anonymous.

There will be "workers" who need to be able to phone clients this may be just one client or a number (not at the same time) without paying to call.

I would need to see who has phoned who and for how long etc.

The "worker" and client will be paired by me and possibly a database if the idea was successful. I then will need to provide them with the information when they should call and the free phobe number and anonomised client contact details.

Thank you and sorry for the delay in responding.
