...07000 numbers? I came across an old leaflet with one on today and it reminded me of the time when it was thought cool by some to disguise your phone number with one that could be your business name. I remember '07000 PLASMA' for example. I never rang them due to the premium rate and I expect the owners paid as well.

We used to have one. As I recall, the callers paid a local rate initially. I have a vague idea that the company providing the number gradually (and stealthily) increased that rate until we cancelled the number - perhaps our rent went up as well. It didn't cost us a lot, but we're talking 20-odd years ago so I can't really remember. We had some other numbers that were supposed to do a revenue share on the call charges, but never got any money from them, so I might be confusing the two.
