Disposals of closed pubs
Discussion
You keep hearing that pubs are closing down at the rate of 20 every second*, but how are they being disposed of?
Sites like Fleurets and Christie are obviously good for those being sold as a going concern, but the mainstream property sites such as Rightmove and Estates Gazette's Property Link don't really seem to have much in the sector where trading has ceased.
Googling 'closed pubs for sale' is fruitless. Anyone know how such properties are being disposed of or where I should be looking?

Developers approach breweries directly.
This is what we do. The breweries give us lists of every pub they own (most don't get this list but we have contacts) we bought 15 pub sites last year. We only buy posed ones though as the Asset of Community Value legislation means the process of buying is so protracted that we can find better things to do. Or in the case of The Ham and Blackbird in Farnborough -
apply for planning permission for flats -
application refused -
demolish anyway -
present local council with a pile of rubble and apply again -
local council refuses again -
local council over ruled by county planning authority

There's one at J28 of the M62 which has been derelict for quite some time. McDonald's keep putting in to knock it down and build a new branch but local residents keep protesting and the council decline. Must be 5 or 6 times now they've tried applying for it thinking residents will eventually give up. No idea who actually owns the building, but it's become a massive eyesore and needs sorting.
There was an odd one here a few years ago. A rather run-down pub came on the market for conversion to a house. Some friends of mine were interested and wanted to view it but kept getting put off with excuses. And then it re-opened as a pub. So I wonder if there was a clause like 'you have to advertise it for sale for 30 days' or similar.

Give me a break! "A nice corner" ?!

There is no "nice" part of the Wyther's and it's about as rough as it gets down that end where the Ancestor is. They can't give houses away down there so £150k for that old ruin is like asking for a million in any other location - never going to happen.I used to live up that way and have spent many a time in the Ancestor. In fact I still have the scars to prove it!

Even for Leeds, it's a crap area, and that's up against some stiff competition.

Anyone who has tried to campaign against fracking will know that local council 'power' is a sham. They only have 'power' if they make the right decision. If they don't they are overruled.
