Just moved into a council owned unit that's been empty for a while. Arranged energy switch to BG. They applied, other energy company blocked it because they wanted to try and talk me into staying with them.

Now I have to wait for another couple of weeks paying their out of contract standing charge and rate before BG can apply again to takeover. Furious doesn't come close and the guy at the energy company really boiled my piss with his attitude.

I got stuck with the idiots for few weeks, even though I have no contract, didn't choose them and wouldn't, having spoken to their representative, ever deal with them again.

How can they do this when it's not like this for domestic? It should just be possible to switch the day you move in. Rant over. Phew, it's stressful enough without this..

Commercial utility suppliers are a nightmare. I have been screwed , lied to and had court battles with then when taking over commercial units. If they mess you about ask the lawyer to email them and that normally gets things moving.

This Ofgem page might help a little bit (not a lot if your business is any size)

Scroll down to "Your rights under a deemed contract"

I'm just in the process of renewing my business gas and electricity, I'm currently with Eon for both.

I got a quote from Extra Energy, 30% cheaper on Electricity, a little dearer on gas, standing charges both were far cheaper.

Then I read the reviews.

UK Power reckon they can get a cheaper price from Eon than I can

I bloody hate the lot of them

Can I just say, I've recently changed from the monster that is Eon to a tiny little supplier called MA Energy and it's heaven, not only were they cheaper but when I ring them I get the same person and they take care of everything, they're in a niche of specialising in SME Business and don't stray outside so what they do, they appear to do very well.
