when we go online for SME that is a definite possibility, but these days no one really fits in a box so I'd have to have 20+ clients with similar profiles for an insurer to be interested.

True, but if a broker was going to send me even half a dozen or so risks to quote I'd definitely be willing to discuss pricing (although we're not online)!

Agreed, but given the spread of business owners on here and their trades, I think you would struggle to get half a dozen due at once and be the best match insurer for them.

Once we are online I can give out ph discount codes

Happy to have a beer and chat about it though. Who do you represent and where are you based?

I'm a self employed web consultant, pay £22 per month to Hiscox for public liability, employers and professional indemnity insurance. No idea if that's any good.

Depends on your income, how much cover you're buying, clients, claims history, etc, etc. Not a bad price for the combined covers though - does it include office contents?

No.

Can't remember my cover limits, I have a feeling it's £1M for professional indemnity.

£1m for PI is pretty standard.

Do you need public liability and employers?

Public liability yes i think so (but possibly not) because I work from my clients offices quite regularly.

Employers no not really, it's one of those ir35 protection things.

Public liability and Employers' liability for a sole trader doing the kind of thing you do shouldn't be more than £50-ish per year. I suspect the PL part might be more of a critical contractual requirement that clients will increasingly insist upon.

Depends more on your own exposure than theirs. What's the maximum you think they could sue you for?
