Good morning,

I’ve used 99 designs before, with good results, but that must have been about 8 years ago now, so unsure if they are still the market leaders for this type of thing.

My reason for using this type of business is, I am very open to different ideas on logo style and design, and using a one man band or single company means you get a variation of one persons idea, rather than 15 peoples ideas and inspiration.

The final result may not be the most polished logo ever, but our favourite one can be refined or tweaked further if need be.

So, anyone else to consider over 99 designs now days?

Looking at either the silver (£349) or gold (£559) package.

Thanks smile

I haven't heard many positive things about it for some time. I know a chap who went to 99d for a logo for his accounting business and ended up spending the same money again on getting an agency to design the logo. Appears to be a marketplace where the majority are just 'ok'

I got a logo from fivesuids.co.uk a few years ago and was happy - it was more than £5 but less than £35. The guy was in India and was very easy to work with, provided some good options, was happy to change things around and then sent the file over in all the formats/sizes I'd ever need.

we've had great success with a different crowdsourcing site.

its based in latin America, and seems to have more creative flair

Remember you can go though most of the process and still get a refund! I was not happy with the designs, but i asked for a refund, they phoned up and helped me write a better brief, extend the time and boost the ad. In the end I used one of there designs, and think it looks great!

Depends on your business IMO. For a painter, decorator, small web shop, etc that sort of offering is fine.

For any business where design, aesthetics, or brand needs to be shown as high end and carefully considered - I'd always recommend a design who can work with you to translate company philosophy into a brand (rather than just a logo).

We used 99 Designs this year and were very happy with the results. We wanted a very clean and simple logo, so it was a straightforward process for us.

We ended up going with this guy (you might be able to contact him directly if you like his designs). https://www.behance.net/johnamio

We're a small biz (obviously) so in full economy mode we found the key is NOT TO BUY THE MORE EXPENSIVE PACKAGES in the first place. They have logo design options at £199 (bronze), £339 (silver), £539 (gold), £869 (platinum) - and they all have a money-back guarantee. From the limited info they give about each option, gold sounds best BUT as they have the guarantee the most sensible approach is to commission bronze, see if anything is good, if not then get your money back and go for silver, and so on.

In the end, we didn't need to go any further than bronze.

Good luck smile

I've used fivver for a couple of client websites when they don't want to spend a fortune - got to say have been very impressed with the outcomes.

logobylogo is usually good, expect the splash page offering you a megadeal on varitions of output to reload once you delete the cookie "just in case you miss it" wink

Just be clear on what you want, as the more detailed the brief, the better the output, obviously.
