Just working on some new packaging for a product I want to start selling.
The most efficient and cheapest method of securing the packaging is with 3 staples.
I found that when I was handling some of the samples, I caught my finger on the staple and cut myself (essentially I lanced my fingers and wouldn't stop bleeding).

It got me thinking.. is there any health and safety laws or packaging guidelines I need to follow? Are staples okay to use in my packaging? Is there any potential comeback from customers if their child cuts themselves?

I saw that Sex Wax Air Fresheners use a staple, and in fact the packaging is very similar.

This is more of a sideline project. I don't expect to be selling huge volumes (maybe 2-4000 units/yr) and the idea is just a stepping stone onto bigger things.

Edit: apologies for the title typo.

Not heard of any H & S issues on staples myself, we purchase ventilation products and the boxes usually come with 3/4 large staples in them, those things are nasty!!!!
