As the title says really, can interest and costs of recovery accrue on part of the amount of a disputed invoice from a company to a private individual?

Yes - although you should have stated that this was the policy on the original invoice.

It was stated in Ts&Cs that accompanied the invoice (and initial instruction).

I appreciate that if someone flat-out refuses to pay it can accrue, but that's not the situation I'm referring to here.

Part of the invoice has been agreed (and paid) whereas part is under dispute. The company refuses to enter into discussions with the private individual to attempt to resolve the issue and come to an agreement.

As along as the bill remains unpaid then interest can continue to be charged. If they are unwilling to negotiate down, then the matter may end up in the courts.

Forget unwilling to negotiate down - company unwilling to open discussions!

If they won't pay the bill they're hardly likely to pay interest too. Off to Small Claims.
