So my team and I are heading to our corporate kick off event in the next few weeks.

I want to do some sort of fun game / icebreaker type thing to involve everyone (Around 50 people).

We will be in one conference room, in suits / smart wear and likely sat down at tables.

I have around 30 minutes to fill and I'm flat out of ideas.

Anyone done this type of thing before in this setting / this many people?

Ask everyone to name the person they admire the most (you may need to do this in advance of the event), then put them into 5 groups of 10. Each group has to pretend they are in a lifeboat and half of the people in each boat have to be thrown overboard. In their groups they have to argue their case to be saved based on the character of the person they admire the most. A bit of ice breaking fun and has worked for me in the past.... just make sure you don't tell them what the task is before the event....

Get them to name as many corporate cliches as they can in 30 minutes?

One of my staff introduced us to the card game Werewolf, which can accomodate many players.

I have to say, it was great fun and a lot better than I thought it would be.

We had a version of the Great Egg Race at a conference - though you need space.

Divide into teams and give each team a box of assorted bits of wood, string, rubber bands, sellotape etc, and an egg. The team who devises a way to get the egg the furthest without breaking it wins. (Rolling is not allowed!) You do need some floor space though.

Split into teams of 10, if budget allows buy 5 kids puzzles like age 6-10 or something.

They get 10 minutes to look at the puzzle, arrange it however they want but no parts can touch.

After the 10 minutes each team gets 60 seconds to make the puzzle.

It's a rapid, noisy really fun competitive way of teamwork.

PS test it yourself as I made up the 10 mins and 60 secs - might be too easy / too hard!

Human Bingo

Before the get together, make about 10 lists, each with a selection of facts that may relate to individuals such as

Drives a BMW
Has 3 kids
Plays tennis
Speaks fluent French
Owns cats
Owns dogs
Has visited South America
Etc etc

People have to go around the room asking others if the things on their list apply to them.

The first to tick off all items wins a prize, the second a lower prize and then a third prize.
