Was having a conversation with one of our clients today who has had a Facebook page set up about him which is full fake information but Facebook are unwilling to help and his one man band lawyer told him just to live with it!

He imported a homeware product from china last year and took on some part plan resellers selling then a £25 kit. In total he only signed up about 10 and was in contact with them via Facebook group etc so they all knew each other.

Just before launch he shared the sample products with them and the main shipment was due a couple of weeks later. He sold a few hundred units online himself with the usual deliver in 14 days blah blah blah.

The shipment arrived early and the product was not what he expected, the quality was not as the samples so he contacted everyone in the group, refunded them and told them it would be a couple of months before they could get going as he wanted to see the new batch landed before selling them.

The resellers who had actually sold nothing decided to form a vigilante group and go on his social media pages to tell everyone he ripped them off and to report him as a criminal and for fraud. One of the woman posted on every thread telling people he had ran away with the money. They also posted the pics he had shown them of the rubbish item saying thats what he was sending people.

He refunded everyone and thought that would be it but it seems they are still at it, anything he has been involved in since they post as well as making up complete rubbish, calling him a fraudster, saying he set out to rip people off etc. They even posted pics of his kids via a news paper article on the thread from an award they got at school.

He went to the police and they said unless he was being threatend then they can do nothing, he went to trading standards to try and get them to make a statement he could post online but they just fobbed him off and his lawyer who is a small one man bad in Inverness told him its hard to do anything and that he could not take legal action against anyone including the people writing the posts.

I ain't no legal expert but he knows who runs the page and the fact its full of rubbish must count for something. Anyone had an issue along these lines and manged to do much about it?

True usually those get removed by attorneys. Attorneys actually are a very serious bunch so I doubt he did something like that on purpose. I have a friend who is a medical lawyer. H mostly specializes on a condition called mesothelioma, which basically is a tumor of the mediastinum which can extend into the lungs. It's a tumor that's caused by secondary exposure to different plastic polymers, like asbestos. He has been a mesothelioma attorney for the past decade and he has probably settled thousands of cases of wrongful exposure. I am really happy that there are people like him who work really hard and try to help people as much as they can. I really am glad that I am friends with him.
