Basically a week ago my printer (brother 3150) decided it wanted to deposit the whole printer in black powdered ink!

I assumed the Black toner gave up, so ordered a new one.

Ive just got around to taking it apart to clean up, but noticed both the toner and the drum has a big groove in the spinny things......

None of the other 3 toners/drum has this, so assume something has failed to cause this...

I cannot see anything obvious.

Has anyone seen this before? or know what might have caused this?

Cheers

If that is a standard Brother 3150 I would simply bin it and buy a new one, they are just over £100.

Yup. Buy a new one. It's a shame but desktop printers aren't built to last.

Indeed, I bought a Samsung C430W (colour laser) last year, came with an offer of a free set of replacement toner cartridges. Printer was about £130, replacement toners are £204/set of 4. Seems logical to recycle the printer and get a new one when they run out.

Thanks, Well seems as i not long ago replaced the fuser, i decided to gamble on a very cheap toner and drum for £30 off amazon.

First test and i was getting a white strip down the page!

Took the (£12) toner back out, gave it a good shake, and it now prints perfectly smile

Next time it breaks, its going in the skip!
