I've just noticed that our BT bill has on it £16.99 per month for phone book listing, which we never requested. It turns out they added it last year and wrote to us saying we could opt out. Or perhaps they didn't.

That's over £200 per year for a service that we never requested and would probably never need.

Worth checking yours.

That'll be a call to them to insist on a total refund and if not a DD guarantee scheme claim if not then...

Had this on our latest bill. After the usual long winded call to billing, being told that only a 'special' department could deal with it,could take 5 days for a call back etc,i told them i was cancelling our debit until sorted. Amazingly then had a call back from said dept who said they did send not 1 but 2 letters telling me of said upcoming charges unless we opted out, obviously we had received no such letter to which she replied " thats unfortunate but we did send them in good faith" ! At this point i replied that i had in fact received a letter and had replied to opt out...also in good faith !
Stalemate ensued until yesterday when a call back told me "in this case" they would cancel costs and contract.
Absolute shysters BT.
