Having recently started a new enterprise to run alongside the original, I recently introduced it to Paypal.

I'm somewhat surprised that they now want to hang on to my money for 21 days... Apparently this can be reduced by marking something as dispatched - not that I can find that setting anywhere.

Any one else come across this? I'm not that bothered about offering the option!

I think they do this at the very beginning - it's been a long time since I started with PayPal; but now, years on - they've been very good and I think that any online shop should offer it, at least as an option.

They do it as a fraud prevention mechanism, otherwise I could set up a site, sell loads and loads over a short time period, extract the money and disappear leaving paypal having to refund the buyers.

Indeed. It's only for a period of time when you first set up.

I too have had the same issue recently. A motorbike leather jacket and hifi. Apparently they are both 'high risk' items so money is still being held. The guy that bought the jacket gave me positive feedback and after 4 days I still can't access the cash.

I might be wrong but possibly you ticked the wrong box somewhere for service or product as type of goods you supply , call them.

Could be. Although they also give instructions for other types such as services..... I did eventually find something on the control panel to tick this as not applicable.

They say they hang on to my money for 21 days until an undisclosed amount has been paid an undisclosed number of times. I'm happy to disclose that I'm not happy with that approach!

We have just set one up for a customer and we did the advanced money laundering / ID from the start which made it much easier but as they think you are supplying "nothing tangible" its different. Once over this issue it will be smooth but please make sure how you appear on credit card statements is NOT open to ambiguity - scenario is client pays by paypal funded by credit card and does not recognise the transaction as it says bloggsoffice2015 or something and they do a chargeback - a whole world of pain. I even go to the extent of telling anyone who pays me for my service via paypal that it comes up as dsliverpoolltd (not that) which is my own company I run outside of Velstar.
