Say I was looking to hire out some beach buggies to be used on public roads. Based on them being 100% road legal where should I be looking to obtain drivers hire insurance?

Do a search for 'self drive hire insurance' which will bring up brokers/insurers that specialise in it. Don't know enough about it to recommend one though.

LV through Miles Smith is who I use (not beach buggies, but not your normal run of the mill either)

Calling these brokers is a depressing game. Have had everything from we wont insure new business to one broker claiming the industry is going through major change and premiums over the next few months will be crazy and to try again in six months.

Will keep trying!

Try this:

Insurance Centre Services (Scotland)
8 Fitzroy Place
Glasgow
G3 7RH

Telephone: 0141-221 9074

Ask for 'Debbie'

They insure many of Glasgow's private hire cars and may well be able to accommodate you via SK Underwriting.

I reckon it's one for Tradex, and Tradex alone.

It will also be fk me expensive.

Insurance Jon on here may have a better idea.

Harrumph. Yeah. I forgot how unhelpful they are. What she could have done is told you that they're a division of SK who are associated to Towergate who probably can do your self-drive thing. (or at least appear to pretend they can do it)

Gave them a call but they are also not taking on any new clients and said the chances on finding anyone will be almost impossible as the market is so screwed up right now.
