I travelled back from Cornwall to Bristol over the weekend, for a meeting this morning with my neighbour’s surveyor, to discuss imminent work under the Party Wall Act.

Late last night neighbour email’s me to say her surveyor is on crutches following an injury at a sporting event “over the weekend”. The surveyor emailed me late Sunday night, with no mention of the injury, or possibly needing to cancel our meeting.

I am finding it quite disrespectful of the surveyor, to firstly use his client to make an excuse on his behalf, and to come up with an excuse, that due to timing, is just unprofessional.

What action if any in similar situations would you take, if any.

Are you doing the work or is your neighbour? ie who wants the agreement from the other?

Its the same for anyone that books an appointment which gets forgotten or cancelled at the last moment.

Actual meetings waste so much time - perhaps ask for it to be via telephone and email with drawings/photos etc and agree remotely.
We are in the same line of work - and unfortunatly appointments to see properties get cancelled at the last moment which may have meant someone travelling a fair distance has to be cancelled.
