Good Morning folks

I am hopeless at social media and desperately need to improve my skills.

Could someone be kind enough to recommend any online courses (preferably free) that I could do in order to improve my skills?

Thanks

What are you trying to do? It's a pretty broad (and broadening) field.

Is this for yourself or your clients ? reason I ask is the difference between a proper social strategy and a person doing a bit of social is night and day and your better paying someone to at least plan a strategy that you implement.

Also, remember that SM is just another channel(s) to talk to your customers. The skill is in what you say, your content. They are all actually quite simple, some people just like to over complicate them.

Pay a youth to talk you through the various platforms that matter, then get someone who understands social strategy to set a plan, then get someone to trust to act as the company spokesperson.

For what though? Are you talking a personal blog? Your own business? Doing it for a client? Part of an upcoming job role?

Essentially any of these are just another branch of marketing, and the normal rules apply. They do (or can) get quite involved in terms of what you can do, what you can find etc. Facebook particularly IME.

If you're starting from scratch I'd suggest figuring which is going to be most suitable for your business and concentrate on that. Where is your audience? Facebook is quite different to LinkedIn for example. Start with one and move from there rather than throwing yourself at multiple platforms at once.

Depends on your customer base, if you're B to C then facebook and twitter are probably best or if B to B then Linkedin more suitable.

https://www.couchdigitalstrategies.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/couchdigitalstrategies/?h... is posting regular live streams on Facebook specifically on Social Media marketing strategies.

Some of the basic rules they talk about in terms of choosing a platform (e.g. LinkedIn vs Facebook), creating regular content, growing your views/likes etc are potentially a useful grounding.

You might want to consider a change of posting name. People on social media can be very judgemental on things like that in the absence of a "real" face or person. Yours has certain connotations which can be misjudged.

geek2017 should bring you right up to date wink
