If anyone can recommend someone to give advise on doing this in the mist tax effective way at reasonable cost I would be very grateful

Make sure you empty the company bank account(s) prior to filing for its closure.

Why would you need an insolvency practitioner if you are still solvent. Just pay off all the creditors, close the bank account and get the accountant to wind it up.

I used Steve Ford ( www.spford.co.uk ) for a MVL last year and would recommend him and use him again myself. I have no other affiliation.

As has been said, a simple "Striking Off" application is much. much cheaper than engaging an insolvency parcticioner UNLESS there is a large amount of cash in the company bank account and you want to withdraw this cash at minimal personal tax costs.
