OR question to those that own/run/manage multiple businesses.

So I handle some basic marketing/advertising for a friends small business.

However they have recently acquired another similar business and want me to do the market/advertising/SEO for that as well.

I don't want to fall foul of any Google penalties and also try as best to keep them separate regards accounts on FB/Google/Linkedin etc.

So would the recommendation be to have a different Chrome profiles when administering FB/Google etc? Or is there a better way?

Not sure about LinkedIn but on Facebook; you just use your profile to administer as many pages as you want; they can be similar or completely different; FB doesn't care... all from one profile; no problem. Google is the same in that; from one Google account; you can setup Adwords profiles and have different ads running for different businesses; no worries.

That's my quick overview of it!

Thanks for that - was just worried administering several businesses from my own account might cause issues with google/bing flagging them as invalid etc.

I might be wrong but I think they often prefer things to be kept under one account: it makes for a neater experience for you and a more refined process that they can provide.

In FB for example; I administer a number of pages; all vastly different and with different budgets; FB is a necessary evil but I must say; they make it easy to spend money with them!

Not so much for the actual administration of the pages, but for the simple act of posting updates etc. consider something like Hootsuite which enables you to have all of those accounts in one place, schedule posts etc.

Yes I use Buffer; they have a great iOS APP that I link custom Bitly domains too for auto URL shortening and stats; it's very slick and intuitive. You can link different pages; or entire accounts and manage from one place. Yes; hootsuite is the big name in this.

LIttle bit of thread creep. But my friend says they want to incorporate the new business rather than keep the two businesses separate.
The acquired business has a decent organic listing in Google so surely it would be good to keep updating both businesses rather than one?
Thoughts?
