Hi

I'm trying to match some data in 2 columns on a sheet.

Column A has about 30,000 numbers in it in A2-A30,000.

Column B has about 300 numbers in it from B2-B300.

I need to match where the numbers in column B appear in column A, but they may not appear.

(Some numbers are duplicated in column A, but I don't want to show that.)

Any suggestions?

I can do it but it also highlights the duplicates in column A, which I don't want.

Thanks

Insert a new column between B & A. vlookup the value in each cell in A versus the whole column in C (was your B). If the 30,000 values are in column (now) C you'll get a value, if not you'll get an error.

You can the filter out the errors if needs be

If I understand you correctly that's what I'd do. Wouldn't take long at all.

Do you just need these numbers in column A highlighted or do you need something more? Could you give more detail on the function of the sheet if possible?

wouldn't Access be better at handling this quantity of data quickly?

If I've understood your post correctly, you could use the match formula and it will give you the position of the first match in column A for each number in column B, but ignores any subsequent instances of the same figure in column A.

=MATCH(lookup value, array, 0)
