Deceased customer owing money - what's the process
Discussion
Afternoon
Calling on the help of PH to see if there's an easy answer to this (I very much suspect there may not be, other than to write it off). An elderly customer has very sadly passed away. Unfortunately, there's a bill outstanding which hasn't been settled for treatment they received. NOK isn't responsible for the financial affairs, but also isn't engaging. I've contacted the law society to see if they can assist with tracking down the solicitor who will be handling the estate but i'm currently awaiting a response.
Has anyone had similar in the past? I'd be grateful for any advice on the matter as it's not something i've had before.
Thanks in advance!

You need to find out who is dealing with probate, it's their responsibility. It might be a solicitor, or it might not. First step is to ask the NOK, obviously.
If they don't engage, you could try the local courts around the area, they should be able to say if they have issued probate and who the executors are.
