Two companies bid, us and the winning one. We scored the most on everything apart from cost.
80% of weighting was on cost. The winning company's score 80%. We scored 48%.
Our price was £18k
So can I work out how much the winning company bid from all that? I'm sure it's simple but can't see the wood for the trees.
Any help grateful received.

Not unless you know how they turned a £ price into a % score. Our price was £18k

We were the only other company bidding and scored 48% on cost.
Here's my thinking. 48% is 60% of 80%
Because they scored maximum points, we can say for ease that they got 100%. We got 60%
So they are 40% cheaper...? That right?

Maybe they took a nominal expected price, and gave a %age difference from that. They were 20% off it, you were 52% off it.
Maybe they said "In this band - this %, that band - that %.".
Maybe they took what they paid last time as 100% - and took 1% off for every £10 more.
Could be any number of ways of doing it.

Fixing stickers and delivering postcards? Am I reading that right? They go out to tender for such things? Our local authority do this through the bin collections they collect a bin stick a sticker on it etc...
Yep, most do. This one, though, is far more complex than it may appear. Different properties in different areas have different stickers. You need to plan the teams to work ahead of the collection crew all day otherwise too many people drag their bins back inside. I'll not bore you with the details but it's a complex task.I'm sure there is a way to work it out but I don't think I can say for certain I'm correct.
I *think* you are 40% dearer than their price rather than they are 40% cheaper than your price - meaning they bid roughly 12.8k
You will be able to find out the contract award price from either the chest link below, or on the Councils own website as they have to publish this information for any spend above £500 .

You may be able to request from the Council the calculation they have used when evaluating your costs.
