Okay so some sort of background to start.... I am a long time poster and lurker on PH, I have made a new account to remain anonymous hence the name smile I have worked now at HMRC for many years and have filed god knows how many tax returns! This brings me to my latest venture, que my new PH name.......... Taxes for Tradesmen. Bet you cant guess who I am going to be targeting?! If possible could anyone give me some website feedback, I am looking at it pretty pleased considering I know nothing about web design but I also know I really do need some feedback on the page! Now I am not going to post the URL here as that would be against the rules but I'm presuming you lot have guessed it smile

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated guys, thank you smile

wix - so slow to load

pop-up for facebook like - frowned upon by google

haven't checked if its responsive as cant be bothered on my phone but desktop display is ok, guessing by my 3 second source code view that it is.

SEEN A LOT WORSE - well done if you dont have tech knowledge but if you start making money get a pro to do it

anyone else want to check it - its the name.co.uk

Prices from £100*

What does the asterisk refer to? Doesn't appear to be a subnote for it.

We are starting to look at this seriously now in order to advise our clients and keep our own audits compliant. Do you specialise in this area then?

Very simple but if you are a limited company; on your website must have:

Your companies registration number.
Your companies registered office address.
Where the company is registered (England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
The fact that it’s a limited company .

If you are an unlimited company then none of this applies. If you aren't a company at all then this:

Are you looking for a company to take the stress of taxes completely away from you?
is misrepresentation.

I had a quick look at the site, not least because my own site is long overdue for a redesign and I'm looking for ideas. It took ages to load for me, and the animations are quite slow, but then I'm on a mobile broadband connection and that can be slow.

There's a few spelling / punctuation errors that I'm sure you'll have found by now, for example "Well working with only tradesmen has acquired us specialist knowledge" is a bit clunky, needs a comma after "well", and I'm not sure that "has acquired us specialist knowledge" is quite right, perhaps "has brought us" or "Well, through working only with tradesmen we have acquired specialist knowledge" or something like that. Oh, and "piece of mind" - it's "peace of mind".

Can't look at any more, it seems to be getting slower, or 3 have turned the volts down here.

What makes a tradesman different to any other business?

What skills do you possess that make you specifically attuned to the needs of "tradesmen" (as opposed to businesses in general).

Do you specialise in CIS matters?

Thank you guys so much for the feedback! In regards to using Wix I found this the easiest way to get started and get myself online not having much web design knowledge. Of course if the business starts to make money this will be done professionally. This is my own little venture that is being started on the side-line of working full time 40 hours a week, I'm not looking for a get rich quick type of business but something I can grow naturally over time.

In regards to the question of " Why specialise with tradesmen " I do work very closely with CIS Deductions in my day to day role yes and also I understand the value that this venture could bring to many tradesmen. From the young lad taking on his first construction job with not the simplest idea of how his tax is worked to the veteran with 25 years experience! Taxes for Tradesmen is about making taxes simpler and more clear for tradesmen from the moment they come on-board as a client. Day in day out I speak to tradesmen who have submitted tax returns not really knowing what they can and can't claim and actually costing themselves more money in the long run. I would really like to grow this business to become the biggest tradesmen only tax return service in the UK, helping new and old tradesmen up and down the country get in control of there tax affairs in a simple and efficient manner.

I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the Facebook group " On the Tools " but I have an article being published on there in the near future and really want to get this site right before going ahead, especially since the group has over 1.6million followers! smile This I am hoping will really kick start this new venture and pull in some clients to get the ball rolling.

I have pm'd some of you guys individually but thank you all for the feedback smile

Good effort on the site. I'd say try to avoid:

Moving images, they look nice but distract people using the site

Take off the FB pop up, few people are going to want to see your posts on their FB feed, that's more for 'proper' social
