Importing Small Quantity of Goods from China

I wish to import a small quantity of goods from China, probably only half a pallet and very lightweight. I have no experience of buying outside the EU and as yet have not set up a company for the product that might result from the prototypes. The goods would be rated at 0% by customs but I realise I would have to pay VAT.

I need some guidance and recommendations so that I don't make mistakes and end up with port/handling charges that exceed the value of the goods.

Best contact three or four local forwarders and tel them you want price ex works the factory address in China

Don’t go with the cheapest
It’s peak season I’m an exporter and cheapest will be a flight from. Shanghai for example then a truck from another European hub and then into London and onto wherever you are

So pick a local one you feel happy with.
