Hiring developers in another country - UK Ltd co

I am in the process of starting up a business, with our first contract signed this week.

We are a UK Ltd Company with 3 directors working full-time by end of the year and we want to hire two developers we have worked with recently through our previous employments. These developers are from India and are on sponsored visas with their current companies. They are both going back to India in January to resign and we want to offer them a job to work for us.

I know they need to stay in India for a year before they can apply for another visa to come to the UK (sponsored by us) so we need to employ them from India for 12 months or so.

What is the best way to do this, given they are non-resident in the UK? Has anyone done this before?

I don't have details but my friend launched his own business over the last 18 months and used developers in India and he is very happy.
I think he found them on one of those brokering websites.

Effectively they are simply external contractors so usual rules would apply?

I treat mine like externals, they send me a monthly timesheet and invoice and I pay them. No currency fees as their banks accept GBP as well.
