You will need the help of a Sage support company but I suspect your best option may be to upgrade to Sage200

Is that not cloud based?
Also trying to get away from the robbing gits at Sage

Only need a simple package that has a Sales/Purchase/Nominal Ledger, VAT reconciliation, Monthly Statement & can raise BACS payments to suppliers based on single entry figures

Our ordering system takes care of Quotes/Orders/Invoices/PO's etc

Take a look at Diamond Discovery IIRC their small business desktop package is around £500.

Sage 200c formely Sage 200 stanard Online is Online but is a toned down version of Sage 200 Extra which runs locally but is very pricey in comparrison.

If all you have quoted is what you need then Sage 50 will do it but depends on what else you are using it for.

Why would you not go cloud in this day and age?

Seems to me you want to go from one obsolete system to another.

Maybe get an IT expert in and stop finance people making IT decisions

Putting your sensitive financial information onto other peoples' servers does generate additional security and financial risks. Not everybody is comfortable with that.

That's a pretty arrogant attitude. It's the sort of attitude that means a small company ends up paying £500 a month for their software when the yearly TCO for an equivalent desktop solution is half of that.

Arrogant? Try living in the real world if you think that's arrogant.

Yes because no one else has ever had those concerns.

Especially not financial services companies... oh hang on....

Yes you have to do the job properly but cloud services can be very secure, and I'm speaking as the IT director of a financial services that has all our financial systems on AWS

It's also the attitude that means you can have a solution thats much quicker, have no financial or support issues with the hardware, have a regulalrly updated platform, remove the responsibility for maintaining compliance with govt requirements, and remove a potentisl large capital outlay.

But don't let those advantages get in the way of your outrage.

Thanks for the replies Gents, will do my homework
TBH the new GDPR legislation was the nail in the coffin for the cloud argument

Not sure what simmer down actually means 😊 but if you mean calm down I'm perfectly calm. And talking about stuff I actually know about which I know is unusual on here 😁

Which bit of GDPR concerns you for cloud systems.

Hi OP.

GDPR should not be your nail in the coffin here. Sage have addressed their GDPR obligation, and made the terms available on their website. Having read these, they appear reasonable (though I am not a lawyer), and aligned with those created by most SaaS vendors (with the adoption of a shared responsibility model)

Sage's whole business depends on their integrity, and if they do not get their approach right, they risk their entire EU/UK market.

I appreciate that now may not be the right time for you to move this to a cloud service when you have existing doubts unanswered, but as the cloud model will only grow as a proportion or whats available, I think that getting good advice and considering all options is the best approach.

Additional exposure that an internal system would not cause

The point is that if someone wants to use a cloud based system - that is absolutely fine.

But as ever with IT topics, as soon as someone expresses a choice that's not seen as the expected norm, they got shot down.

If a person wants to keep their records in a cardboard box, they should be free to do so - and not be dictated to on this score by governments and or IT zealots.

Not a sales pitch.... Honest!

I'm unsure on your industry/number of users/location but would be very happy to show you Intact IQ.
https://www.intactsoftware.com/

Based on your requirements, Intact has these as standard and much more:
Quotes Int
Sales Orders
Purchase Orders
Accounts
Outlook Integration
CRM & Marketing Modules
Dashboards
Mobile
Warehouse

Not knocking Sage at all but we tend to replace sage on around 80% of our installations. Customers either outgrow it so to speak or move away. Intact IQ can be also be on-prem or in the cloud!

It might be worth saying that IT Showcase is also coming up. If you can take a day out the business, you'll be able to view a number of offerings on the day. (We won with Intact last year)
