At the moment I send a lot of small parcels via DMO.

I throw them all into a sack, weigh the sack and divide by the number of packets to get the weight per item.

Now this is stopping in March what is everyone doing moving forward?

I know we have to weigh the 1000's of products and update our systems with these weights to chuck out a dedicated royal mail label for each order however just wanted to ask if anyone is doing anything different as it's a mammoth task!

Thanks!

I’m using click and drop, DMO’s replacement-I’ve only ever used click and drop.

Weights are still averaged-I started out weighing every package and then got to the point of averaging based on “feel”

Address labels are automatically imported, selected with a click, label generated based on average weight size and class of postage, then printed off. The batch is manifested, tagged and deposited in the post office-done.

How does this differ from OBA?

RM kept pestering me to change over to the barcode system but it looked like such a PITA to implement and the potential for it to go wrong was huge compared to the simplistic OBA system that I saw no point.

I don't know much about Royal Mail hence the post but is OBA just the way that you are billed? The items that we are now weighing will be uploaded to OBA? Or am I missing something?

The process you described is exactly what we do for OBA but I cannot find anything online that compares both OBA and DMO?

Royal Mail have some demo videos on YouTube which helps explain click and drop better.

From my experience I’ve disabled the automatic addition of tracking details to my eBay sales account-it led to some longer than expected delivery notifications and thus “late deliveries”

OBA is just how you get billed, once you’ve had your first paid bill the price paid is shown on the click and drop dashboard

Sounds just the same as OBA? Although we use Whistl now and they do it all for us 👌
