Hi all,

We have an invoice for £2500 + VAT unpaid since November 2017 - 30 days terms.

We have a purchase order, work all done and no queries raised, have been promised payment more than once but now it's radio silence - no one answers the phone or emails.

Gave notice last week to pay by Friday or I'll take action - is it worth using Money Claim online or should I just engage a debt collector?

First time it's happened in a long time so no idea what the best approach is.

Thanks!

Phil

How big is the company that you are trying to contact?

I had a similar issue last year, just started writing letters, chasing the company CEO/ Directors, kept getting fobbed off. My final letter was a recorded delivery letter addressed to the CEO that legal proceeding was starting in 7 days........ phoned 7 days later to be told payment was already on its way.

But I was prepared and had all my stuff ready to make start the claim process online. it looked fairly simple to start this. I'd give them one final warning via recorded delivery, if no response I'd go straight to money claim and start the process. I wouldnt go down the debt collection quite yet.

Not that big, trading since 2013, no current alert on them.

I'll go MoneyClaim for now then.

Thanks!

I've used moneyclaim on several occasions and the customer has always paid up quickly once they've received the paperwork. It's very quick and easy to do.

Moneyclaim would be my first port of call. Ensure you've sent a compliant LBA and given at least 14 days, then file online and they'll get served.

Moneyclaim is good, but statutory demand is better and cheaper smile
