I'm not looking for an answer but the combined knowledge of PistonHeads always gets the synapsis firing.

Keeping it short......

With our new business premises we have a couple of thousand sq. ft. free to use and at pretty much zero cost to us.

My main business is service and labour based but I have also wanted to have an e-commerce / sales internet based outlet too.

Now I have some ideas that we are exploring but any other wisdom shared would be interesting to hear.

So yes I am missing the main ingredient, an idea or product but I also have some other areas covered such as:

Some free capital and cash flow.
Use of labour and man power.
Use of administration staff.
A computer super geek to hand.
Use of marketing and SEO team.
A good server and network / IT setup.
Of course, free secure space / storage.
Good transport links.
A post office next door.

BUT missing the most important bit.

Any comments would be great, they don't have to be big money makers and fun is always a bonus.

TIA

Think what you can buy at a competitive advantage - say you have a mate who imports from China and has a good relationship with an agent / factory - go with him see what else they do or you can find.
As LDN says sex sells but anything people use often is a good start.
I quite fancied specialising in torches because I like torches but never got round to it.

Find something which compliments your existing business, or forms part of the supply chain.

Whatever it is, make sure you can have a strong competitive advantage, and it makes to be lucrative. Otherwise, IMO, you'd be best downsizing and only having the space you need, or partitioning it off and renting it out so you still have options to expand in the future, but you're not absorbing a cost of more space than you need.

Thanks for the comments so far.

We can let the space out but would rather have some fun and try out a few ideas, its what I enjoy doing.

Could invest £20k up front, more if needed.

Looking for "something" to stop the Mrs spending cash I came across 3000 of these (below) threw them on Amazon and eBay and sold the lot by xmas
- could have sold lots more hi viz stuff. Bought for 27p each sold for £5 / £6 a pair delivered. There is money in sport and hobbies!

Toys? ToysRUs is dead and I saw on a documentary that the guy starting it thought it was a great idea as toys were continually broken by kids, worn out or they just got bored of them and so wanted the next thing, basically all had short lifespans

Maybe workwear / workboots supply? tools (sale or hire) - nich sites can do really well, with certain types of products people like a site that advises and compares rather than just chucks 100 options at you. Just talking to a guy now who sells trees online - amazing, lots of butchers online now - and the real hot product of the moment leather diamond car mats - huge sales after a social media campaign (makes your car look like a knocking shop)
