Hashtags for business posts
Discussion
Buddy of mine is trying to launch a new business. He's been in a bit of a dark place of late so trying to help him along the path.
He's somehow got it into his head that the more hashtags to add to a Facebook page, the more responses you get. The evidence thus far suggest this is not the case but he is sticking to his guns.
I know a bit about digital promotion but not as many here. My understanding is that a) hashtags don't really work for face book and b) regardless of platform, less is more.
Anyone here more enlightened on the subject care to proffer a suggestion as to which is the best route?

TBH the options on FB are so vast these days it's about testing and perseverance. And money. The new A/B test ad feature has a minimum spend of (iirc) $800, so it's not insignificant, especially for a new business. Test manually and remember content, content, content.
And dependent on the business I'd question whether FB is the right platform at all. The people who spend time on Facebook are the people who have time to spend on Facebook. And as such for bigger ticket stuff they're not ideal opportunities. If he's selling sparkly wallpaper or personalised tat he'll be well in.
In terms of lead gen we have much better success via SEO/PPC and other channels than social. It's good for reviews and credibility though. Pity the leads are s
