It will depend on what the partnership agreement says.

It probably signals the end of the partnership then.

Is there much at stake?

No assets thankfully as not been going very long. Lesson learnt here , will seek advice on this issue and the formation of a new vehicle with relevance agreements. Just a pain for a few contracts we have signed.

There's no legal default on this. It is common practice that all new partners are approved by all existing ones unless the agreement gives the authority to one of them to appoint without approval.

So, technically, in answer to your question then, yes; you can. There's no agreement that says you can't and the law allows this so it comes down to whether you consider it strategically a good idea or not.

Unless there's an ulterior motive, I'd advise against it and the one area of law that may impact on this is that each single partner must act in the best interests of all partners.
