Just a warning, someone has registered the domain companieshouse-gov.uk and is using it to send fake malware claiming to be important docs from companies house.

Forward the email to phishing@companieshouse.gov.uk, they should take steps to shut it down pretty quick.

Can you complain directly to Nominet, who ultimately could pull the domain?

Thankfully, GDPR should sort this kind of thing out after the 25th.

wink

The only thing GDPR does is fk over small businesses (apart from those who make money from GDPR courses or don't mind doing hours and hours of free work). And so, I will always take the piss out of it.

That's not strictly true. It's doing a wonderful job of clearing all the marketing crap I couldn't be bothered to unsubscribe from out of my inbox as well! smile

Yes, this is true. It more than makes up for the 15 hours of unpaid work I've had to do.

I wonder if it really will. I pick up the email addresses of former colleagues and unsubscribing to stuff doesn't seem to make much difference.

It will if it's a European business inc UK (even after Brexit). If it's a Chinese or Russian company, I can't imagine anyone will give a flying fk about GDPR.

The difference, though, is that they are currently coming to me and telling me that unless I take an action to remain on their mailing list, they will stop mailing me. I can't see why they'd be going to that trouble to then not actually implement the outcome.
