Looking for a part timer, couple of days a week. Seems the job centre no longer exists? Don’t really want to pay agency fees - any thoughts? Where to advertise?

Facebook seems the answer to everything these days, maybe try there?

Alternatively this is the new Job Centre jobs board... https://www.gov.uk/advertise-job

By Facebook do you mean a post on my timeline or a promoted post? I’ll set up on that gov.uk tomorrow, thanks. Have asked the local college but no responses yet.

There are normally local pages for things for sale and stuff like that so I'd be quite confident that there'll also be one for jobs too.

Be careful about who your target audience is on FB though as it tends to be stay at home 'u ok hun' mums

Local towns and cities tend to have active jobs sections. Our local town has a weekly jobs posting (agency free) that is very active and free.

Most industries have local groups on Facebook where you will find people looking for work, what sort of business are you in?

I use Gumtree. It used to be free but now it's £10 an advert.

Welding kit in Daventry. Have found a few now on Facebook - I had no idea they existed. One seems busy so have asked to join.

I only get decent candidates when I pay a job board.
If using Job Centre, be prepared to spend a lot of time sifting through people only applying to get their dole. Waste of time.

Oh yes! Even had some attend an interview and opened by saying they were not interested in the job but had to attend or their benefits would be cut.

Gumtree isn't bad but varies depending upon where in the UK you are.

Facebook job groups are OK but frequented by those, it seems, how believe you should be contacting them!

I wouldn't use Facebook to source staff.

I guess it depends on your sector. Locally it seems to be prevalent for bar/cafe/short order chef/nannies etc

Can I ask where you would advertise?
