Apologies, always had a man to do this for me - looking at setting up a couple of businesses next year, but want to secure the web addresses first.

Never dealt with this side before - who/how is the easiest way to buy and secure a .co.uk?

namecheap.com is where you want to be. Everyone buys their domain names from there because they're always the cheapest and often have deals on.

I’ve been using 1and1 for over 15 years and never had a problem.

Good value registration and hosting.

They’ve just rebranded as Ionos.

I recommend Fasthosts.co.uk - Very well known, uk based and reputable.

Been with them for getting on 20 years ans have approx 50 domains in my account.

I would agree with Undercover agent BUT a few things to remember that will save you a tonne of hassle down the line. . . .

1. Use Fasthosts

2. Open the account in your sole name with your home address ( you can sell it/change address to your business/partner or whoever if you desire when the times right)

3. Pay for the domain name with 'your' card

The above shows ownership 100%, the next bit is equally important. . .

You going to need an IT person at some stage who needs access to the account, ALWAYS make sure you or Fasthosts do the changes and never allow access to a third party as they could change something small which makes a big difference in ownership in the unlikely event of an argument at a later stage.

While a appreciate most people are honest, if you do the above you are 100% the owner and in control until you want to change it

Another vote for Fasthosts.

Reasonable prices. Easy to set up and maintain. Zero downtime.
