MLD - Making Letterhead Digital. Arrghh.
Discussion
Currently the first page of any company letters are printed on pre-printed letterheaded A4 paper.
This complicates things if you wanted to email them for example, plus we have colour printers that can do a decent job of the letterhead straight onto copier paper.
So we would like to create an electronic version for Word.
I've got a decent jpeg of the letterhead now - which helps - but am really struggling to create a word document with 'letterhead and address' header, plus a 'vat number/company details' footer. Not great on computers tbh - is there an easier way of doing this - or am I just useless? Be gentle..

You're just useless, I'm afraid... it's easy enough to do using the header and footer and image functions, and Word has the capability to do different formats for first page and continuation sheets. You may need some basic image editing software to manipulate your company logo, or any other graphics. I used PhotoShop, but only because I use it in day-to-day work... it was like using an elephant gun to shoot a rook, to apply it to a task that simple.
Harsh but fair
Problem I have is I do the header in Word, stick it at the top of the document, then it fades out into the background when you start typing. I am not good at this. Have jpeg of good quality for the header logo, need to create another small jpeg myself which I'm confident I can do to stick into the footer.
Just created a really spot on header in Publisher, similar to what I can do in Paint, now doing the footer.
Plan is convert both to jpegs, stick in Word and see what happens?
Thanks for the replies!

It fades on the screen to show it’s in the header. Print it and it’ll come out fine...
I haven’t used publisher since 1877 or whenever it was last updated but if you’ve got an image you’re happy with, just right click and ‘save as picture’ and save type as JPEG. PowerPoint can definitely do this as a quick fix.
Alternatively I teach computing at secondary school so you could sit in on my Year 7 classes and they can show you how to do it.

And the offer still stands if you’ve no joy

I have a pair of 15 year olds here. I should have asked them....Alternatively I teach computing at secondary school so you could sit in on my Year 7 classes and they can show you how to do it.

Thank you for the offer - that is very much appreciated! I reckon I'll get there but if there's a chance of my computer being thrown out of the Windows in frustration I'll give you a shout
Aaand... done
The fading thing completely messed with my head. Publisher worked in the end - did separate header and footer designs inserting company logo and accrediting logo etc, export to jpeg, reshape and resize and mess about in Paint and then one click and it's in the word doc. Then OH turned up and 'suggested' some alterations. Next step : a website. Kidding.
