Direct debit options?

Hi all,
my software company is starting to offer smaller customers monthly subscriptions with a variable usage component, rather than annual licenses, and in some of the earlier contracts we've been having some challenges to get payments. As a result we'd like to offer (or insist upon) using direct debit. Our regular bank doesn't offer that service, so we're looking for a third party... something. Not sure what. My FD is looking into it, and we're also looking at PayPal Business.
Any other ideas or options you've used? Our customers are all over the world, we transact in GBP, EUR and USD in the main.
