Just a heads up!

Watch out for a bad process I have just experienced with the Natwest / RBS banking switch.

When your account switches, it closes, which is fair enough, but their 'process' also instantly cuts you off from your data and log in, so even though I can still log in to see a pair of savings account, I can not see any data for my closed account, which means I can not download any data for bank reconciliation or VAT return.

I have had to order paper statements and will have to enter them manually to my system.

Best I got from complaints is 'well we've followed our procedure, so we cant uphold your complaint'

I've only switched the once but I downloaded / saved all my statements etc. before initiating the switch. Bet there's many who have been caught out though. Would also do the same for energy switches.

Yes and No, Not when I could import the data electronically and it took 5 mins, now it is going to take 1/2 a day to collate and reconcile.

It is the stupidity of someone who designed the process to think that once your account it closed you no longer need access to the statement data. Its fine if you have a accounts team working for you, but as a small business, I was on-site the whole of the week that the transfer and closure happened. I still had transactions waiting to process through when the account closed, so they didnt transfer the full amount but I cant see what has been paid or received until I get paperwork ones.

I cannot think of a single service that's provided to me over the internet that would carry on allowing me to see a dead account...Electric, gas, phones, banks, they all switch off access when the account is closed.

If you didn't take down the data when it was open why would they expect you to access it when its closed?

Santander are worse.

When you close your account they communicate via their secure messaging service, but you can't access it to read the messages as they remove your access
