Business banking switching.
Discussion
We’ve just switched a not very important bank account from CoOP to Barclays.
Our Barclays account manager just asked me to text her the account details and card number and a couple of days later the account balance and payments moved to Barclays. It all seemed quick, informal and dare I say it efficient.
We are going to switch one of our HSBC accounts next, but there is more to play for because it is one of our main accounts and if it messes up we are in trouble.
So, is there a risk of it messing up?
I must confess that my not knowing the answer is largely because I don’t understand how it works. Do the old HSBC account details become merged with the new account details somewhere in the banking “cloud”, on a permanent basis? Or is there just some sort of “divert” put in place?
If there is any risk of a balls up we may just migrate slowly.
