I send a proportion of my company’s profits to a particular cause in India (a school and orphanage). Additional to this we’re putting on a high level event this year to refurb the school (hopefully a six figure sum.) Anyway, we’ve always found that even sending a four or five figure sum to be frustrating at best! As such, does anyone know of a hassle free way of sending money to India?

Send it to me and I’ll make sure I live on Indian food for the rest of my life! I’m sure it’ll reach India at some point.

we worked for an indian orphanage for 12 months - when we got back to the UK - we worked so hard - donations - volunteers, even a stand at Glastonbury - one day the owner of the orphanage called me and asked me to go to Switzerland and pick up 100,000 Euros in cash for her . . . . WTF!!!

I obviously said no straight away - we were then accused of all sorts of stuff because we would not do this - needless to say, we have never done anything for them again, which was heart-breaking as we lived with all the children :-( for a while - which was fun.

My advice - don't send any money to anyone in India - go and pay for the work yourself that way you can be certain where your hard earned and well meaninged cash is going!

As stated it's probably best to get someone trusted out there to get the work done. Can you not use a bank that exists both here and in India for the cash to be withdrawn and used accordingly?
