Store stock barcode scanning with SAP
Discussion
Can anyone recommend a solution or company to work with so rather than manually typing in material numbers in SAP to book in/out stock we can use a barcode scanner that has a SAP interface to streamline this task and reduce errors?
Currently when items are taken from stores they are recorded on a sheet (sometimes with incorrect numbers, or written illegibly) then are later manually typed into SAP to book out.
Will need to book out against a cost centre so presume a SAP interface required on scanner?
Thanks

You might be able to do this easier than you think - most USB barcode scanners I've seen / played with are recognised on Windows PCs and laptops as a keyboard device so when you scan a barcode the characters appear in whatever applicationon the screen has the input focus at the time.
I am thinking something more advanced than that, more like the scan while you shop at supermarkets where you would scan a label on the racking of the part you are taking.
This is for an engineering stores so may be taking a bearing, fuse, PPE, bolts etc which many do not have barcodes on the products but do on the shelf edge.

We use www.csiltd.co.uk for most of our SAP applications and barcode integration.
