Job Sheet / Shared Calendar
Discussion
Hi folks, looking for some advice / suggestions
My brother owns a recovery / vehicle transport company and has recently taken on additional employees for both the workshop and driving duties. Up until now he has been getting by planning his own workload using his handwritten diary or by saving plans on the calendar in his phone. Admin isn't his strong point and now that there are additional folk involved he has asked me to help out setting up his office / keeping accurate records and sorting a process to record bookings.
Ive managed to sort out the office but one thing I'm needing help with is how to record and track the jobs coming in. Whatever system / app he uses it need to record the date and times of each booking, some notes about what the job is and ideally which employee is responsible for doing it. It also needs to be able to be seen by all employees on their phones so they know what's coming up in next few days. Doesn't need to have any payment / billing stuff as that is all done via quickbooks invoicing.
Any suggestions on any good apps / calendars that might work? Or is Google Calendar as good as it gets?
Thanks

I'm not in that line of work but I'd imagine there must be some kind of software already available on the market?
I have just done a similar exercise this year, our family business has run from a paper diary for the last 50 years. I've orchestrated a whole new CRM system to manage 10+ staff and all of our bookings - it's done wonders for day-to-day management and record keeping.
Good luck OP!

If you just want a simple free solution, see what you can set up using Trello. It's a sneakily powerful free kanban tool - you could set up cards for each job, put as much info and timing information as you want on the cards, create columns for drivers, and then allocate the cards. Then drag and drop the cards into run orders etc. Nothing like the features of the other systems suggested, but much better than Google calendar.
