This option has just popped up as an alternative to Royal Mail. Is it the same as Hermes which got wrapped up as 'Shutl'? I wish they would stop bloody changing things! Has eBay bought Hermes?

Strategic partnership (they might have paid eBay to integrate).
Full info here.

Is it now called Packlink?

I’m semi sure I set up an account years ago with Parcel2go and integrated with the ebay shop, no insurance and it was marginally cheaper too.

Now use Royal Mail as we have enough spend for free collections (large letters & parcels) and don’t have to take parcels to a drop off shop and hope we’ve not missed the collection.

I used shutl when ebay offered it, it was easy
as tracking was uploaded automatically and as hermes is round the corner it was easy to drop off. The pain came at the end of the month will the bill which was always wrong and I had to chase up constantly.
It got changed to packlink a few months back and i was gonna use it but the billing system changed to paying as you go, which is actually better for cash flow, but reading reviews the hassle for claiming or any other issue put me off.

Actually once you dig in it's just as before - MyHermes. I buy the postage, print the label and drop the parcel off at the local corner shop.

This morning a courier actually made a collection AND a delivery in one go (unrelated orders!) - I must say these courier boys make the post office look dinosaurs.
