I am going to book a LTD co name for a project / brand - it's a name that existed before and upon researching it; I note that there are registered trademarks that are live - that are owned by the old / dissolved LTD co.

In a strange twist of fate; registered the LTD co name - now; would I inherit the TM's? The owner of the older LTD co has obviously left it all behind.

It's not the name that identifies a Limited Company uniquely, it's the company Number.

Also, No.

Yes; I know multiple names will have different co. Numbers - but as far as the trademark office is concerned; they don’t take a company number; if I remember correctly; so it’s the name only. In any case; think it’s true that I’d not legally be in control of the TM’s.

I’m pretty sure the TM won’t follow the company nane. My pal registered GPO when the post office let it expire and didn’t get anything with that.
