Friend has been approached by Google who offered to take over the advertising on their business site (they have an online mag). The increase in promissed rebenue is huge, they recon between 500 and 600%

Seems like a catch someplace?

I personally haven’t heard of anyone achieving financially sane results by letting Google manage ads.
Where a good specialist would perform human keyword research the Google person is (I suspect) mainly AI. The examples I’m aware of use broad match keywords that will cost a lot of money in high clicks and drive the wrong traffic.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick Dave, this is about adsense, no ads (online magazine so display ads for readers of the magazine to consume)

If it is to place adverts on his site then google adsense can work quite well, but there are alternatives

A quick search for 'adsense alternatives' will soon get you a list as long as your arm
