Anyone have any experience with Franchises?

[Sir Snaz]

Hi all, a slightly open ended question this - and probably more of a thought exercise on my part.

Looking to do something new in the next couple of years, and after a few interesting conversations, the idea of franchises has appeared on my radar.

I am talking medium to large investment franchise - so household name stuff (think Macdonalds - although not Macdonalds as that is, I think, way outside my price range). The aim would be to build a portfolio of around 5-10 eventually, reinvesting as I go.

I have been involved in various businesses over the years - mainly finance - have a very good grasp of numbers and legal stuff and have managed staff at most levels (never retail however).

Does anyone have any direct experience of the above ?

Yep, I own franchises myself. Retail and a household name!
