Have done in the past, you require plenty of traffic for it to pay well. Currently not involved but we have a website that we are considering using for it again more out of curiosity than anything. Been a few years since I worked with some of the big AM networks

Have used it on and off for the past 10 years or so as both a publisher, an advertiser and also running in-house programmes for online retailers.

The big affiliate networks still offer opportunities but Voucher Code sites dominated for years and kind of ruined it all for a while due to the last click wins model.

Many big retailers also have everything locked down tightly on what you can and cannot do with your links and advertising which can make things more difficult. They also have some crazy long payment windows like 90 days and can bin off your commissions at the drop of a hat.

I still have a site that I check on every now and then and it's nice to see some money in the account for little effort. Might even dust it off and give it another shove after this.

If you have a blog with lots of traffic then it is still a good way to monetise it if you choose your programmes wisely.

Lots of businesses now also run their own programmes and without the cost of a network, or PPC, they can pay much more. Some software commissions can be $200+ for each new sign up.

It's easy to get set up to have a play around and you will learn lots if you enjoy websites, digital marketing, ecommerce etc. Just don't expect it to be easy money like it was 15 years ago. Unless you hit on a viral idea.

Amazon rates are low, but people know the brand and are comfortable clicking and buying from them. They also have a vast array of products, so you are likely to find things in your niche. In my experience, it is a good way to generate revenue.

Google AdSense rates are higher, but click throughs are terrible mainly because people have ad blockers and simply filter out the ads when online. Company specific affiliate links work well if they are highly targeted to your niche.

I ran a couple of sports websites a while ago, but eventually gave up as they generates so little income it wasn't worth it. I found that "Top 10 x About y" articles generated lots of clicks, but of course take a fair amount of effort to generate the content.

As others have said, you need tonnes of traffic or followers on social media for it to really generate any meaningful revenues.
