Until a new email from HMRC popped up today, I'd not really looked at the details of the customs changes ahead. But the new email says:

"Customs intermediaries – including customs brokers, freight forwarders and express parcel operators – as well as traders who complete their own declarations, are among those who can now apply for grant funding to support with recruitment, training and IT to handle customs declarations."

So I've been trying to find out whether the current customs red-tape is changing? I had thought that I'd just use the same procedure I use for (say) Norway for all EU countries in the future. A lot more hassle but fair enough. But reading between the lines, it seems like there might be a requirement for traders to do it all digitally - requiring specific software.

FWIW, I run a B2C business, with about 30% of the business being from EU consumers. I currently ship via Royal Mail (up to £100 value) or ad-hoc courier arrangement (>£100 or over 2kg).

Anyone here have a handle on this?

Apply for the grant

Theoretically exports and imports to from the eu will need clearing,

Customs are bringing a new system out called cds to replace chief
These things come and go
Travicom acp80 acp90 to name a few

My system ingegrates with chief so i arrange jobs do docs and the customs entry all in one place
Some will have a stand alone system
Dont blame your forwarder,
We have to pay for a badge, for the link, and to transmit an entry plus lay out a fortune in vat and duty for you ans then learn all the new stuff

In short its going to take longer and cost more
