VOIP - Alternative to BT?
Discussion
Currently have four licences with BT costing £21.00 per month each (plus VAT) for unlimited minutes per user, and call recording (which is essential).
I'm sure, but I don't know enough about it, that BT are expensive for what I'm getting. I think I had to purchase the phones from them initially, so I own them. But will they work with another provider?
It's also essential that I keep my phone number, so can I port it to a new provider as well?
Occasionally, I need to be able to answer the work phone when out of the office, and can do this with the BT Cloud app. It also lets me transfer the call from desk phone to mobile to continue the call if needed. Presumably all VOIP suppliers can do this?
So, any advice or recommendations?

Hi Tyre Smoke,
Handsets are usually locked down by each supplier (they like to make them sticky) and BT wont be any different. I work for a Gamma Horizon reseller and would be happy to advise - no obligation for a fellow pistonheader!
Yes you can port your number no problem.
PM me and we can go from there if you wish.

£21 a month is not too bad for unlimited minutes (if you use them) and inclusive call recording.
If you’re moving purely to save money it’s probably not worth it. 4 users isn’t going to get suppliers particularly interested.
Gamma Horizon is OK but they have had a couple of major outages in the last 12 months and I don’t think Gamma’s network is particularly great these days - possibly struggling to keep pace with their growth.

Yes, you should be able to port again with no issues.
Quinny makes a good point around pricing, if its to save a few quid then probably not worth it. I believe for £21 pcm you wont get call recording with BT and its probably extra....
In terms of Gamma, yes their growth is strong, 7,000 new extensions per month from memory and yes those outages did hurt a bit!
