And by services i mean your business skills/abilities etc? wink

My wife is still on furlough and looks like she will be laid off soon. She works part time and we are just looking for a little extra money to get by.

She is american but was raised to speak Italian and she also speaks fluent Spanish. When she lived in the states she used to do online tutoring to Chinese kids. She doesn't want to do that again due to the hours etc.

I was thinking she might have opportunity to make something online in this area. Translating/transcribing into either of these languages, or from Spa/Ita into English? I realise it is probably a saturated market but wondered if any on here any sage advice to help give us/her an angle for opportunity.

Thanks

language tutoring is in great demand - she should consider looking to register with one of the tutor agencies

Could test the water on local facebook sites - if she picks up the Spanish GCSE/A-level curriculum there may be demand.

Cheers for the feedback.

I was thinking maybe a carrd.co style landing page website with services, and try to direct traffic to it from fb advertising / insta. Might be a longshot, as I haven't completed my FB blueprint training or anything like that (yet)

I do think with the online tutoring is only going to increase due to this damned virus.

What about a voiceover gig in the same voice but 2 different languages. When you call almost any phone system here there is one voice that speaks in English and then a totally separate voice for Spanish. It doesn’t sound hugely professional and having the ability to have what is clearly the same voice for both could be a desirable option.

Nice this with Fiverr is that it can’t cost more than a couple of hours to set it up and try!

No, but I've bought some. I found some good people on both Fiverr and Upwork.

Yeah I am thinking about transcribing too. So I need a decent ubs microphone and some audio software maybe.

A friend suggested some target ads in the 'Mums of Newton Mearns [or another wealthy part of town]' type fb pages... where wealthier parents might frequent and offer student tutoring.

I am thinking high school curriculums should be available somewhere online? if not the client could in advance give the coursework which tutoring is needing to cover.

+1, mainly word processing services and making presentations etc look smarter. All my experiences have been positive and very reasonable.
